The connection between the petroleum industry and Gilbarco goes back to the first days of Charles Gilbert and John Barker's business in the 1860's.  Initially it was to do with the distribution of naptha as a lighting fuel, but with the advent of the internal combustion engine, the focus rapidly turned to the manufacture of measuring and visible petrol pumps.

Today the Petroleum Service Division has one of the most comprehensive geographical distributions of the company-employed field service technicians in the country, prioviding a service that's second to none.  The customer base is very diverse and includes Retail, Truckstop, Commercial, LPG and General Aviation segments of the industry.

Backing up the field technicians, an in-house call centre supports all customers with guaranteed service coverage.  This enables Gilbarco to monitor and maintain close control of service performance and response.

In recent times, the organisaton's position as part of a dynamic global company has been enhanced with the combining of the Gilbarco and Veeder-Root companies into one company.  On the one hand, Gilbarco remains a leader in the manufacture of fuel dispensing equipment, fully integrated point of sale systems and back office accounting systems for the global petroleum marketplace.  On the other hand, Veeder-Root is a leader in automatic tank gauging and fuel management systems, including the Red Jacket brand of submersible pumps and pressurised lne leak detectors.
